In a recent study, commissioned by the European Union, the port of Livorno was excluded from the top forty ports in Europe.
A local newspaper, the “Corriere di Livorno”, has closed for good. Started in September 2007, it never had a sizable share of readers.
A referendum opposing the location of the new hospital took place last Sunday, but only a 20% of the voters showed up. The quorum was not met, so the new hospital will be built near Montenero.
